Jurgen Klopp’s men have put themselves in an outside chance of achieving their goal, with the gap to Man United now just one point. Mohamed Salah’s close-range effort earned the hosts all three points, and in doing so, he became the first Liverpool player in history to score in nine consecutive appearances at Anfield, while also equalling Steven Gerrard’s tally of 186 goals for the Merseyside club. Aaron Bower of the Guardian praised the Reds for their momentum, while David Lynch praised their dogged nature. Mike McGrath of the Telegraph was impressed by the manner in which Liverpool are putting pressure on their rivals, and Tom Blow of the Mirror questioned where Liverpool would be without their legendary No.11. Henry Jackson of This Is Anfield was in awe of Salah, and Neil Johnston of BBC Sport couldn’t hide his admiration for the Egyptian King. Jackson believes there is still hope for Liverpool, while Blow believes people should write them off at their peril. Despite the odds being stacked against them, Liverpool are refusing to give up hope and are starting to look like title contenders again.
