Arne Slot, the incoming manager at Liverpool, is set to bring three of his staff members from Feyenoord with him to Anfield. This includes assistant manager Sipke Hulshoff, head of performance Ruben Peeters, and analyst and technical advisor Etienne Reijnen. The news was confirmed by Feyenoord source 1908.nl and backed up by The Times’ Jonathan Northcroft.
These appointments come as replacements for Pepijn Lijnders, Peter Krawietz, and Andreas Kornmayer, who are leaving Liverpool’s coaching staff. However, Slot was unsuccessful in his attempt to convince former assistant manager Marino Pusic to join him at Liverpool. Pusic, who previously worked with Slot at AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord, is currently the manager of Shakhtar Donetsk and has chosen to remain in that position.
While the appointments of Slot, Hulshoff, Reijnen, and Peeters have not been officially confirmed, Liverpool is making progress in addressing the departure of their first-team staff this summer. Richard Hughes has already taken over as the sporting director, and a new structure has been put in place with David Woodfine as the assistant sporting director.
There may still be further changes to Liverpool’s staff, as the head of recovery and performance Andreas Schlumberger is leaving, and there is a possibility that elite development coach Vitor Matos will also be replaced. It is unclear at this stage if there will be any other departures, but it is likely that more of the staff brought in by Jurgen Klopp will be considering their futures.
One influential figure behind the scenes, head of nutrition Mona Nemmer, could potentially join Klopp in leaving. However, there seems to be no intention to part ways with long-serving head of goalkeeping John Achterberg or coaches Claudio Taffarel and Jack Robinson. The rest of Liverpool’s fitness, analytics, and matchday staff are expected to be retained as part of Slot’s new backroom team.
