Liverpool’s long-standing kit deal with Nike is set to come to an end next season, as the club is expected to announce a new partnership with Adidas. Since switching from New Balance in 2020, Liverpool has been supplied by Nike, but it seems their ties with the American brand will soon conclude.
The current five-year agreement will expire at the end of the 2024/25 campaign, and according to Sport Business, Adidas is poised to take over as the club’s next supplier. Adidas reportedly emerged as the “winning bidder” for the next five-year cycle, which will run from 2025/26 to 2029/30, beating competition from Nike and Puma.
While the details of the prospective deal with Adidas have not been disclosed, it is believed to be “higher than the circa £50 million per season” paid under the Nike contract. However, it would still fall short of the record-breaking £90 million paid to Manchester United, which currently holds the title for the highest kit deal in the Premier League.
If confirmed, this partnership would see Liverpool reunite with Adidas, a kit supplier that has played a significant role in the club’s history. Adidas was previously associated with Liverpool during two lengthy periods between 1985-1996 and 2006-2012. Many of the club’s iconic victories and trophy lifts have come while wearing Adidas kits, making this reunion a popular one among supporters.
Adidas is no stranger to supplying kits for top clubs, as they currently have partnerships with Arsenal, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, and will begin agreements with Aston Villa and Newcastle next season. They also have ties with prestigious clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, AS Roma, Inter Miami, and Benfica.
As Liverpool awaits the official announcement of their new kit supplier, fans can expect the launch of what could potentially be their final home kit from Nike in the coming weeks. The bold red design will be worn by the team during their clash with Wolves on May 19th, adding significance to the end of an era and building anticipation for the future partnership with Adidas.
