Liverpool are set to buy young defender Calvin Ramsey from Aberdeen, but he will reportedly be Jurgen Klopp’s final signing of the summer.

Ramsey has been linked with a move to Anfield for a while, and The Times now report that a £4million fee has been agreed for the 18-year-old, with a further £2.5m in add-ons.

The Scotland U21 right-back, who will sign a five-year contract with the Reds, will serve as understudy to Trent Alexander Arnold and marks the club’s third signing of the summer after the acquisitions of attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho from Fulham and striker Darwin Nunez from Benfica.

However, the trio will be the only incomings at Liverpool this transfer window, with Klopp said to be more than content with his current squad that won last year’s FA Cup and Carabao Cup and came agonisingly close to lifting the Premier League title and Champions League.

The deal for Nunez, which could rise to a club record £85m, will likely have taken up the Reds’ entire transfer budget, and while Klopp would like to add another central midfielder to his stacked roster, he is happy to wait until next summer to sign a big player rather than purchase a stopgap now.

Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham is likely to be top of his shortlist, especially after previous target Aurelien Tchouaméni opted to join Real Madrid, and the England international has already stated that he will be staying in the Bundesliga for next season.

Ramsey’s arrival may not conclude all the business at Anfield however, with several high-profile Liverpool players expected to leave before the end of August.

The club are currently negotiating with Bayern Munich over the sale of Sadio Mane, who expressed his desire to seek a new challenge at the end of last season.

Takumi Minamino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will also be allowed to leave, while Divock Origi and Loris Karius have already headed out the exit door after their contracts expired.
