Liverpool have reportedly entered talks to sign Manu Kone from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach, with the deal potentially costing €40-45m. Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the 22-year-old Frenchman, but Jurgen Klopp’s team appear to be leading the race. According to German outlet Bild, Liverpool have been in contact with Kone’s representatives and have expressed their interest in a summer transfer.
Kone has registered 31 appearances for Borussia Monchengladbach this season, who finished 10th in the Bundesliga. The German club are looking to receive €40-45m for Kone, who is under contract until 2025, and have the option to extend his deal for a further year. The fee they receive for Kone could be used to fund moves for new players in the summer window.
Liverpool are looking to make several signings this summer as they aim to return to the top four after a disappointing 2022-23 campaign. They have withdrawn from the race to sign Jude Bellingham and are now expected to bring in two central midfielders, with Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and Nice’s Khephren Thuram being linked. Liverpool had been linked to Chelsea’s Mason Mount, but Manchester United now appear to be favourites to land his signature.
