Liverpool Midfielder Absent in Friendly, Injury Not Linked to Transfer

Date:

Liverpool faced Real Betis in their first friendly match, but midfielder James McConnell was noticeably absent. However, his absence was not related to a potential transfer. The team was also missing other key players, with Andy Robertson ruled out for all three matches in the United States due to a long-standing ankle issue. Additionally, Jayden Danns and Bobby Clark did not travel with the team due to back injuries.

In the victory over Real Betis, Liverpool suffered another setback when Curtis Jones was forced off with a suspected hamstring issue in the first half. Before the match, James McConnell was ruled out due to a minor injury issue. Although McConnell’s absence may have been disappointing for him, it is crucial for him to recover quickly as several Championship clubs are interested in signing him on loan for the season. Hull is believed to be leading the race, but Blackburn, Derby, Huddersfield, and Birmingham are also potential suitors for the young midfielder.

Liverpool has already secured two loan deals this summer, with Calvin Ramsay joining Wigan and Fabian Mrozek signing a new contract before joining IF Brommapojkarna in Sweden. Luke Chambers, who played a short period against Real Betis, is expected to rejoin Wigan on a season-long loan.

Other Liverpool players have also attracted interest from clubs. Owen Beck is being watched by Championship teams as well as clubs in Germany and the Netherlands. On the other hand, Bobby Clark has been linked with Norwich and Salzburg. As for Jayden Danns, there were premature suggestions that he was close to a transfer to Plymouth Argyle, managed by Wayne Rooney. However, any potential deals for Danns and McConnell would be subject to their fitness being proven first.

Overall, Liverpool’s friendly against Real Betis highlighted the absence of key players due to injuries. It also shed light on the interest surrounding McConnell and other Liverpool players, with several clubs vying for loan deals. As the season approaches, it will be crucial for these players to not only recover from their injuries but also showcase their fitness to secure potential transfers.
