Liverpool Legend Torres to Depart as Atletico U19s Coach

Fernando Torres, the Liverpool legend, is reportedly set to leave his role as Atletico Madrid’s Under 19s manager at the end of the season. Torres took on the position in July 2021 and made an impressive start. However, questions were raised about his future after his team was eliminated from the UEFA Youth League by AZ Alkmaar last month. According to reports, Torres has decided to “step down” from his role, as stated by Relevo.

The news of Torres’ departure has left Atletico Madrid facing a significant decision regarding the future of their former iconic striker. Talks over his fate at the club are expected to take place at the end of the month. Initially, Torres was being groomed to take charge of Atletico’s B-team. However, the success of current Atleti B boss Luis Garcia Tevenet has made that scenario unlikely. The club’s management could still offer Torres a position in first-team manager Diego Simeone’s coaching staff.

When Torres was announced as the Under 19s coach, he expressed his pride and happiness at returning home to Atletico Madrid. He referred to it as an exciting challenge and vowed to give everything he could to serve the club. Torres has a strong connection with Atletico, having come up through their youth teams before making his first-team debut. He went on to score 129 goals across three stints for the club.

The departure of Torres from his coaching role marks a new chapter in his career. It remains to be seen what opportunities await him in the future. Atletico Madrid will need to carefully consider their options and make a decision that aligns with their long-term goals.

As this is a developing story, more details are expected to emerge in the coming weeks. The football world will be keeping a close eye on Torres’ next move and how it will impact both his career and Atletico Madrid’s future.
