Liverpool in Talks with PSG over Loan Move for Kylian Mbappe
Liverpool Football Club has reportedly opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) regarding a potential loan move for French superstar Kylian Mbappe. This comes after Mbappe turned down a record-breaking offer from Al-Hilal, who were prepared to offer him a staggering one-season deal worth €700 million.
PSG had initially accepted a world record £259 million bid from the Saudi side, but Mbappe rejected their offer, with his representatives refusing to even meet with Al-Hilal officials in Paris. This decision has reportedly infuriated PSG, as they are keen to sell the World Cup winner after his refusal to extend his contract beyond next summer. If Mbappe does not sign a new contract, he will be able to leave on a free transfer at the end of next season, something that the French champions are desperate to avoid.
According to The Mirror, Liverpool has now stepped in and offered Mbappe a one-year loan deal. This move could benefit all parties involved, as it would allow Mbappe to complete his dream move to Real Madrid on a free transfer after a season under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
However, Liverpool would be expected to pay a significant loan fee for the 24-year-old forward. Recent reports in Spain suggest that PSG has informed Real Madrid that they would have to pay around €250 million (£214 million) to sign Mbappe this summer, with negotiations ongoing to potentially lower the fee.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has already confirmed plans to sell Mbappe this summer if he does not agree to a new deal. The forward was left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Japan, further indicating that his future lies away from PSG.
Al-Khelaifi has been vocal about his desire to keep Mbappe at the club, stating that if the player wants to stay, PSG wants him to stay. However, he emphasized the importance of Mbappe signing a new contract to avoid losing him for free. The PSG president also believes that there is interest from other clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, Inter Milan, and Barcelona.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Mbappe adds another twist to the ongoing transfer saga surrounding the player. Real Madrid has long been considered the frontrunners to sign him, with a move to the Bernabeu looking likely last summer before a last-minute U-turn. A loan move to Liverpool could provide Mbappe with the opportunity to showcase his talents in the Premier League before making his desired move to Madrid.
As negotiations continue, it remains to be seen where Mbappe will end up this summer. The football world eagerly awaits the outcome of these talks, as one of the most talented young players in the game looks set for a potentially game-changing move.
