Liverpool FC’s Owen Beck is set to make a strong comeback into the starting lineup after a successful loan spell at Dundee. With Jurgen Klopp looking to protect his only senior left-back option, Joe Gomez, Beck could feature in Liverpool’s upcoming FA Cup match against Arsenal.
Klopp is expected to make several changes to the team to account for the physical toll of the festive period. While Caoimhin Kelleher is likely to retain his place in the League Cup, Alisson should start in goal at the Emirates Stadium.
In the full-back positions, Beck and fellow academy graduate Conor Bradley are expected to start, giving Trent Alexander-Arnold a much-needed rest. Jarell Quansah is a strong candidate for the center-back position, with Ibrahima Konate’s minutes managed over Christmas benefiting him.
In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister needs playing time to regain his form, and Ryan Gravenberch should replace Dominik Szoboszlai. Curtis Jones, who was rotated during the festive period, should be fit enough to play at least an hour in midfield.
Up top, Diogo Jota is likely to start against Fulham, while Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo could feature on the left and center-forward positions respectively. Harvey Elliott will take on right-wing duties in the absence of Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool will have three days to prepare for their League Cup semi-final against Fulham after the FA Cup fixture, while Arsenal will have a longer break until January 20.
Potential Liverpool XI: Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Quansah, Beck; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Jones; Elliott, Gakpo, Diaz.
