Liverpool Goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros Joins Sturm Graz on Loan in Austrian Bundesliga
Liverpool goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros has secured a loan move to Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga for the remainder of the season. The loan deal was confirmed by both clubs.
Jaros, who previously had loan spells with St Patrick’s Athletic, Notts County, and Stockport County, spent the first half of the season back at Liverpool. However, he will now continue his development at Sturm Graz after extending his contract with Liverpool.
The move comes as a result of a serious injury to Sturm Graz’s first-choice goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen, leaving the club in need of a replacement. Jaros trained with his new teammates for the first time on Monday and will join them for a mid-season camp in Slovenia before fixtures resume on February 2.
It is expected that the 22-year-old Czech goalkeeper will become the starting goalkeeper for Sturm Graz, with Scherpen ruled out for the rest of the season. However, Luka Maric is also an option for manager Christian Ilzer.
Jaros joined Liverpool from Slavia Prague in 2017 but has yet to make a senior appearance for the club. He has been included in the matchday squad on seven occasions over three separate campaigns.
In addition to Jaros’ loan move, Liverpool also sent goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga on loan to St Patrick’s Athletic this month. This decision will likely provide more opportunities for Fabian Mrozek in first-team training.
There is speculation surrounding Jakub Ojrzynski’s future at Den Bosch, with the Dutch club signing West Ham goalkeeper Krisztian Hegyi on loan. Ojrzynski, who has played a backup role during his loan spell, may now be recalled to Liverpool.
We wish Vitezslav Jaros the best of luck during his loan spell at Sturm Graz!
