Tottenham and Liverpool Interested in Borussia Monchengladbach’s Ko Itakura
Japan international Ko Itakura is attracting attention from Premier League clubs Tottenham and Liverpool. Itakura, who previously spent time at Manchester City, has impressed since joining Borussia Monchengladbach in 2022. The 26-year-old can play as a center-back or in holding midfield.
Liverpool has reportedly sent scouts to watch Itakura in action, while Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has been a long-time admirer of the player. Itakura is under contract at Gladbach until 2026 and does not have a release clause in the January transfer window.
Although Itakura has been sidelined with an ankle injury since October, he is included in Japan’s squad for the upcoming Asian Cup and hopes to feature. Describing Itakura when he joined Gladbach, sporting director Roland Virkus praised his tactical discipline and versatility in defense.
