Tottenham Suffers 4-2 Defeat Against Brighton: Postecoglou Praises Fatigued Players
Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou expressed his disappointment at the team’s 4-2 defeat against Brighton but commended his “tired” players for their efforts.
Struggles and Consolations
Alejo Veliz and Ben Davies managed to score late consolations, but it was not enough to overcome Brighton’s dominance. Josh Hinshelwood’s powerful early strike was followed by a Joao Pedro double and a Pervis Estupinan stunner, securing an impressive win for the hosts.
No Blame on Injuries
Despite missing Cristian Romero due to injury, Postecoglou refused to point fingers at the referee’s decisions.
Fatigue Takes Its Toll
Postecoglou acknowledged that his team appeared fatigued and lacked their usual sharpness, especially at the beginning of the game. He attributed this to the demanding physical nature of their playing style and the long run of matches they have been through.
“Brighton is a formidable side, and they took advantage of our fatigue. However, I cannot ask for more from my players. They gave everything they had, and that’s all I can expect,” said Postecoglou.
Unwavering Effort
The Tottenham coach praised the small section of the squad that has carried the team throughout the season. He emphasized their consistent efforts and willingness to give their all in every match.
“The players have shown their commitment all year. Whatever they have, they will give. That’s all you can ask for,” added Postecoglou.
Injury Concerns
Postecoglou expressed concern over a heavy tackle from Lewis Dunk on Dejan Kulusevski, stating that it could have resulted in another injury. However, he remained hopeful that Kulusevski was okay and mentioned that they were evaluating his condition.
