Lionel Messi Joins Beckham’s Inter Miami, Ending Barcelona Reunion Speculation

Date:

David Beckham’s Inter Miami has secured the signing of Lionel Messi for the upcoming MLS season. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner recently left Paris Saint-Germain after two seasons in France. While there was speculation that Messi would return to Barcelona, the club did not have the funds to bring him back to the Camp Nou. Inter Miami had expressed their desire to sign Messi back in November, and the move has now been confirmed. Messi will become one of Inter Miami’s designated players. In an interview with Spanish news outlet Sport, Messi said that he had offers from another European team but decided to go to Miami to experience football in a different way. He also revealed that he did not believe Barcelona president Joan Laporta had done enough to bring him back to the club. Inter Miami is currently sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference after 16 games played.
