Lionel Messi awards Player of Season to PSG friend

Lionel Messi, the Argentine footballer, has gifted one of his Player of the Season awards to his Paris Saint-Germain teammate, Leandro Paredes. Messi has won six Player of the Season awards during his 17-year career with Barcelona. He has also won several other individual accolades, including seven Ballon d’Ors and two World Cup Golden Ball awards. Due to limited space on his mantlepiece, Messi gave his 2020/21 LaLiga Player of the Season trophy to Paredes, who is now on loan at Juventus from PSG. Paredes was showing off the various trophies on display in his house when he picked out the award Messi had given him. The award reads “Player of the Season” on one side and “Lionel Messi” on the other. Fans have been praising Messi for his generosity, with one person saying that the Argentina team is like one big family. Messi won the World Cup alongside Paredes in December, and PSG are currently eight points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table. However, Messi is being heavily linked with a return to Barcelona this summer, and there are also rumors of a £350-million-a-year move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal and an American switch to David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
