Jesse Lingard Reportedly Offers Himself to Barcelona
Former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has reportedly expressed interest in joining Barcelona. Lingard, who has been a free agent since leaving Nottingham Forest in June, is hoping that a move to the Nou Camp will revive his career.
Last year, Lingard briefly trained with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq but did not secure a contract. Since then, he has been training in Dubai while actively searching for a new club.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Lingard recently reached out to Barcelona as a potential option. Barcelona, who are expected to have limited options in the January transfer window due to Financial Fair Play, should be able to afford Lingard’s wages. The club’s manager, Xavi, has been dealing with several injury issues this season and is looking for affordable additions.
Lingard joined Nottingham Forest as a free agent in July 2022 after being released by Manchester United. During his time with the Reds, he made only 20 appearances across all competitions. Prior to his stint at Nottingham Forest, Lingard spent 20 years at his boyhood club, Manchester United.
By offering himself to Barcelona, Lingard hopes to secure a new opportunity and reignite his career at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
