LFC Training Update: Gravenberch Back as 25-Man Squad Confirmed
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is preparing his squad for their upcoming clash with Sparta Prague, and there are some notable additions and absences. The Reds currently hold a comfortable four-goal advantage going into the second leg of their last-16 match at Anfield. This lead would typically result in mass rotation, but injuries are limiting Klopp’s options.
Unfortunately, Ibrahima Konate remains unavailable, leaving Klopp with only three senior center-backs to choose from. However, it is likely that Virgil van Dijk will be given a rest in this match. On a positive note, Ryan Gravenberch has returned to the squad after missing the last four matches due to an ankle injury. Initially expected back after the international break, there is a chance we may see him come off the bench on Thursday.
Another significant development is the return of Mohamed Salah to the starting lineup. The winger has been deemed “ready” and trained alongside his teammates at the AXA Training Ground on Wednesday. This will be Salah’s first appearance since January 1, and his presence will undoubtedly strengthen Liverpool’s attacking options.
Unfortunately, Jayden Danns will not be joining his teammates on the field due to a concussion suffered during the dramatic win at Nottingham Forest. However, Klopp still has a host of young talent at his disposal. James McConnell, Bobby Clark, Lewis Koumas, Conor Bradley, and Jarell Quansah all participated in the training session and are in contention to start against Sparta Prague.
It is worth noting that Trey Nyoni and Amara Nallo also took part in the session. However, they are ineligible to play in Thursday’s match due to UEFA rules. Despite this setback, Klopp remains focused on maintaining his team’s rhythm and momentum. In his words, “It’s about keeping the rhythm and keep going and don’t think about the next game on Sunday even when the opponent is Manchester United.”
Overall, Liverpool’s 25-man squad is shaping up well for their clash with Sparta Prague. Klopp has some key players returning from injury and plenty of young talent ready to make an impact. With a four-goal lead already in hand, the Reds will be looking to secure their place in the next round of the Europa League.
