Liverpool’s Loaned Player Calvin Ramsay Could Return to Anfield, Says Preston Manager Ryan Lowe
Liverpool has already recalled five players from their loan clubs this January, and there is a possibility that Calvin Ramsay could be the next player to return to Anfield, according to Preston manager Ryan Lowe. Ramsay, who was sent to Preston to gain more playing time, has had a frustrating season so far. He arrived at the Championship club lacking fitness and then suffered an injury. Although he made two appearances for Preston in November and December, he lost his place due to illness and has been left out of the squad for the past five games, despite being fit.
Lowe admitted that there is a possibility of Ramsay returning to Liverpool, along with Fabio Carvalho, Owen Beck, Nat Phillips, Rhys Williams, and James Balagizi. However, Ramsay has found it difficult to displace Brad Potts, who is the first-choice right wing-back for Preston. Potts has been one of Preston’s standout performers this season and has played more minutes than any other player, except for Liam Lindsay and Freddie Woodman.
Lowe mentioned that Ramsay has the opportunity to earn his place back in the squad but acknowledged that it has been challenging for him due to the consistent performances of Potts. Ramsay has expressed his disappointment at not being involved with the squad and believes he can contribute to the team. However, the Covid-19 outbreak has limited the changes in the squad, making it difficult for Ramsay to break into the team.
Despite the setbacks, Ramsay remains available for selection if needed. The decision on whether he will return to Liverpool or continue his loan spell at Preston will be based on what is best for both parties.
