Liverpool Youngster Dominic Corness Heads to Switzerland for First Career Loan Spell
Liverpool youngster Dominic Corness is set to embark on his first career loan spell, joining Swiss Super League side Yverdon for the 2023/24 season. The twenty-year-old midfielder is the ninth Red to make a temporary move this summer, and will be looking to make an impact in his new home.
A Long-Time Liverpool Player
Corness has been with the Reds since the age of five and has worked his way up the ranks, becoming a regular member of the under-21s side. Last season, he was Barry Lewtas’ captain for the second half of the campaign. Now, he is making a valuable step into senior football with his first loan move.
Yverdon: A New Challenge
Yverdon have just been promoted to the Swiss Super League as champions of the second tier. Their new season kicks off on July 23 with a trip to FC Zurich, and Corness will be looking to make an impact in his new surroundings.
The England youth international made 25 appearances for Lewtas’ young Reds last season and started all but one match in the UEFA Youth League. He is typically deployed as a deep-lying midfielder, and is known for his left foot, having earned the nickname ‘the Wand’.
A Step Towards the First Team?
Having taken part in training with Jurgen Klopp’s squad at various stages over last season, this loan move could be an important step towards a place in the first team. Corness will be looking to make the most of his time in Switzerland and prove himself as a capable senior player.
All The Best, Dominic!
Liverpool fans will be wishing Dominic Corness all the best on his loan spell in Switzerland. He has been with the club since he was five, and now is the perfect time for him to take that next step in his career.
Good luck, Dominic!
