Layton Stewart Pens Touching Farewell Message to Liverpool FC After 13 Years
Layton Stewart has been a part of Liverpool Football Club since the age of five. For the first four years of his life, he wasn’t on the club’s books, but he has now penned a touching farewell to the club that made his dream come true.
The 20-year-old forward took to social media to thank everyone who has helped him along the way. He wrote: “To Liverpool, where do I start… today is the day I say goodbye to the club that I’ve been at for the last 16 years of my life, this club has been all that I’ve known – but now I think it’s time for me to take the next step in my career.”
Growing Up at Liverpool
Stewart officially joined Liverpool’s academy at the age of seven, but he had been at the club since the age of five. The club has seen him grow up and develop into the player he is today, throughout his rise up the age groups and to the first team.
Unfortunately, Stewart has also had to overcome two serious knee injuries during his time with Liverpool. But now, he is ready to take the next step in his career and move to Preston North End on a permanent deal.
Thanking Everyone at Liverpool
In his farewell message, Stewart thanked everyone involved with the club, from the coaching team and medical staff to the kitchen staff and fans who have supported him throughout his time at Liverpool. He also thanked his teammates, saying: “It’s been a pleasure and I’ve made friends & memories for life I want to wish you all the best of luck for the future & I’m sure our paths will cross again on the pitch!”
His post was immediately flooded with well wishes from his teammates, including Harvey Elliott, Stefan Bajcetic, Tyler Morton, Kaide Gordon, Conor Bradley, Ben Doak and Bobby Clark.
Making His First Team Debut
Stewart made one senior appearance for the Reds, in the Carabao Cup against Derby in November. He also featured prominently for the U18s and U21s in recent years.
It’s clear that Stewart will be missed by all at Liverpool Football Club. He has been a part of the club for 13 years and has made many memories along the way. We wish him all the best for his future and hope to see him back on the pitch soon.
