‘Let’s be bloody annoying!’ – Newcastle chief issues rallying cry to fans in pub and asks ‘has anyone seen a Manchester United fan?’

Newcastle CEO Darren Eales has given a rallying cry to fans, along with a couple of shots at Manchester United.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle are looking to win their first domestic trophy in 68 years when they face Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils at Wembley.

Floods of Geordies have taken over London with their club flying high since their controversial Saudi Arabia takeover.

A win for their Manchester rivals would also be huge, with the club trophyless in nearly six years, but Newcastle’s CEO was keen to point out that he hadn’t seen any red shirts.

Speaking to fans outside of the Green Man Hotel in Wembley, Eales said: “First of all I want to say, has anyone seen a Man U fan in the city?

“They’re rarer than hen’s teeth, it’s unbelievable, you guys have taken over.

“On behalf of the club I want to say a huge thank you to you guys because you’ve been through the thick and thin and it’s been a lot of thin recently, but we’re back lads and I’m telling you this is the start of something.”

Eales then made another perceived dig at their fellow finalists, referencing Ten Hag’s comments that Newcastle are ‘annoying’ to play against.

“Your support is unbelievable, this is amazing,” he continued. “But what I want to do most of all today, let’s be bloody annoying, let’s annoy them, let’s get a cup.

“Thank you for the support, this is going to be the first of many finals, just thank you guys, we love you.”
