Scott Parker is the frontrunner to become the new manager of Leicester City, following their relegation from the Premier League last month. Parker is currently priced at 2/1 with talkSPORT BET to take over the Foxes, ahead of former caretaker manager Dean Smith. Leicester are currently without a manager after their relegation from the Premier League, with Smith having been given the job of taking charge of their final eight league matches in an attempt to save them from the drop. Despite a win on the final day of the season, the Foxes’ relegation was confirmed, meaning they will be playing Championship football next season for the first time since 2014.
Parker, who has been without a job since March after being sacked by Belgian side Club Brugge, has experience of earning promotion out of the Championship, having done so with Fulham and Bournemouth in two of the last four seasons. Smith, who also has previous experience of achieving promotion from the Championship, having done so with Aston Villa in 2019, is priced at 9/4 to have his contract extended.
Other managers linked with the job include Steven Gerrard and Graham Potter, who were both sacked from Premier League sides in the season that has just finished. They are tied at 6/1. Rafa Benitez and Martin O’Neill are also linked with the job at 10/1, both of whom have Championship promotions on their CV. The Champions League-winning Benitez has been without a job since he left Everton in January last year, while O’Neill had previously announced his retirement from managing after leaving Nottingham Forest in 2019.
It remains to be seen who will take over at Leicester, but with a number of experienced managers linked with the job, it is sure to be an interesting summer for the Foxes.
