Leeds star Jack Harrison scores stunning FA Cup goal in win over Accrington Stanley in perfect answer to transfer rumours after failed Leicester bid, as Jesse Marsch admits no talks have been held

Leeds star Jack Harrison replied to speculation over his future with a sumptuous strike in a 3-0 victory over Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup.

The 26-year-old started against the Reds at Wham Park as Jesse Marsch named a strong XI to compete with the League One outfit.

But the fourth round tie was no walk in the park for the Whites, with the Yorkshire side having to war it out with their red rose Lancashire rivals before Harrison’s beautiful long-range fizzer in the first-half.

Stanley eventually ran out of steam, with Junior Firpo and Luis Sinisterra getting on the scoresheet after the break to seal a routine win.

But with Harrison courting interest from Leicester this month, it was the perfect reply to the surrounding noise over his future.

talkSPORT understands the Foxes have made a £20million bid for his services, and that it is expected to be rejected by the chiefs at Elland Road, but it appears Leicester are not alone in their interest.

Speaking on Saturday afternoon, talkSPORT’s transfer insider Alex Crook said: “Leicester are not the only club showing interest in Jack Harrison, Newcastle have had him on their radar as well, but I’m not sure they’ll sign both him and Anthony Gordon who is undergoing a medical today.

“Aston Villa were the other team mentioned to me with Harrison, so there is lots of interest surrounding him.

“But Leeds, on their part don’t want to sell him and £20m is well below the asking price.”

The winger has yet to sign a new contract at Elland Road with his current deal expiring in 18 months, and Leeds might have to consider offers sooner rather than later, despite battling with Leicester to stay in the Premier League.

They would not want to strengthen a rival while Leeds boss Marsch admitted that he has not spoken with the former Manchester City ace over his future.

The American said: “I’ve heard that there’s things about him. He’s an important player for us.

“I’ve not discussed it with Jack because for me it’s very clear.”

Leeds are understood to value Harrison at closer to £35m but it remains to be seen whether Leicester or any other suitor are willing to meet that total, considering the length of contract left on his deal.

The ex-New York City star has been integral for Leeds over the past few years but has struggled for form this campaign after netting just once in the Premier League.

His goal in the FA Cup, brilliant as it was, was his second goal of the campaign overall.

Brendan Rodgers is close to confirming his first arrival this month at the King Power Stadium with Tete on the verge of joining.

The Brazilian has been on loan to Lyon this season from Shakhtar but his contract expires in 12 months and Leicester are keen to land the winger as soon as possible.

Leeds, meanwhile, are closing in on a deal to sign Weston McKennie from Juventus on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

It will see the American midfielder partner his compatriots Tyler Adams and Brendan Aaronson in Yorkshire.
