Raphinha could be ‘tempted to stay put’ at Leeds if he fails to secure a move to Barcelona this summer, talkSPORT has been told.
Arsenal, Barca and Tottenham are all tracking the Brazilian forward and eyeing a potential move in this transfer window.
The 25-year-old had a stellar campaign last season, scoring 11 goals in all competitions and setting up three, to help Leeds avoid relegation from the Premier League.
So it’s not surprising that Raphinha has garnered strong interest from other clubs after he stood out in a struggling side.
talkSPORT understands Leeds will not stand in his way if he wants to go – so long as their £50million valuation is met.
According to talkSPORT’s South American football correspondent Tim Vickery, Raphinha would relish a move to Barca.
However, with doubts over whether the Spanish giants have the funds to do a deal, Vickery has suggested he could end up staying at Elland Road to ensure he remains firmly in Brazil’s World Cup plans.
Raphinha made his full international debut for his country in October last year, assisting two goals and winning a penalty.
Speaking on Wednesday’s White and Jordan show, Vickery said: “If you’re a Brazilian, and Barcelona come knocking, it’s so hard to say no.
“In Raphinha’s shoes, if it’s not Barcelona, they might be a temptation just to stay put because of the World Cup.
“Normally, you’d go. But let’s not rock the boat.”
And when it came to the winger’s links with Arsenal, Vickery questioned whether their interest would disappear if they were to sign fellow Brazilian and other transfer target, Gabriel Jesus.
“Do Arsenal want both Raphinha and Gabriel Jesus? Does that mean Gabriel Jesus is a No. 9 for them, a centre-forward for them? Because if not Gabriel Jesus really likes wide right – which is Raphinha’s happiest position,” he added.
Also speaking about Raphinha on White and Jordan on Wednesday, talkSPORT’s transfer insider Alex Crook revealed: “Leeds are looking for around £50m.
“I know Tottenham are lurking in the background as well.
“They may be in a stronger position than Arsenal because of course they can offer Champions League football.
“It’s become clear to me that Leeds won’t stand in his way if he gets a suitable offer.”
