Growing up, there was no choice for me but to support Arsenal as my whole family were fans of the club. However, my dad’s side of the family supported Newcastle, but my mum’s side had a connection to Arsenal as my granddad used to live next door to Highbury. We were fortunate to be Arsenal fans during a great era of the club.
As someone who works in football media, being an Arsenal fan has made my job much easier, especially with the team doing well this season. I get to work with former Arsenal players like Ray Parlour, Martin Keown, David Seaman, Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, and Freddie Ljungberg, which is incredible.
Being an Arsenal fan at work is a privilege, and it’s the most privileged position to be in the radio studio after a weekend and have nothing to worry about. It’s been a joyous time for Arsenal fans, and I’ve never felt the Emirates like this before.
This season, the team has shown great confidence, and they have the ability to go through teams effortlessly. The core of the team with Odegaard, Saka, and Saliba is a proper team, and they’re young, which is a positive for next season.
Although there have been mistakes along the way, Mikel Arteta and Edu have had a plan right from the beginning, and they’re getting things right now. The club has gone back to its roots, and there’s a lot of trust in the way things are being worked out now.
As for the upcoming game against Manchester City, we can’t take a draw. We have to go there and try to win. If we fall away and don’t win it, I’ll be devastated, but I don’t think it’s the end of Arsenal. I think this is just the beginning.
