Jamaal Lascelles Targeted by Besiktas for January Move
Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles is reportedly a target for Turkish club Besiktas. The 30-year-old defender has fallen down the pecking order under manager Eddie Howe, with Fabian Schar and Sven Botman forming the first-choice center-back partnership.
Lascelles has started 12 of Newcastle’s 20 Premier League games this season, but most of them have been as cover for the injured Sven Botman, who has now returned to the squad. Besiktas, currently sixth in the Turkish Super Lig, are looking to strengthen their defense in the second half of the season.
Besiktas already boasts former Premier League players Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arthur Masuaku, Daniel Amartey, and Cenk Tosun in their squad. Lascelles could be the next addition to their roster.

Besiktas is in need of a center-back after releasing Eric Bailly, who was one of several players banned for poor performances. However, Bailly quickly found a new club by signing a deal with his former team Villarreal just one day after his exit from Besiktas.
Among the other top-flight stars at Besiktas, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been the most successful with four goals in 20 games. Tosun, a former Everton striker, has scored only one goal in five games. Masuaku, previously with West Ham United, has made 17 appearances, while Amartey, formerly of Leicester City, has featured just twice.
