Ibrahima Konate Set to Return for Liverpool’s Clash with Man City
Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate is expected to make his comeback in the upcoming match against Manchester City after recovering from a hamstring injury. The 24-year-old missed the recent victory over Brentford and withdrew from the France squad due to the injury.
Aggravated Injury
Konate aggravated an existing problem during the warmup for Liverpool’s defeat to Toulouse earlier this month. He required treatment during the break but is now on track to be fit for the clash with Man City.
Rehabilitation Progress
During his time off, Konate underwent strength and conditioning training and resumed running outdoors as part of his rehabilitation. He continued his recovery at the AXA Training Centre, where he was among the first players to report back along with Curtis Jones and goalkeeper Adrian.
Sharing footage on Instagram, Konate wrote, “No days off. Big week incoming.”
Possible Lineup
It remains uncertain whether Konate will start the game against Man City, with Joel Matip also a viable option to partner Virgil van Dijk. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kostas Tsimikas are expected to start at full-back, while Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are likely to feature in midfield alongside either Jones or Ryan Gravenberch.
In attack, an in-form Darwin Nunez is set to join Mohamed Salah, while Jurgen Klopp will have to decide between Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz for the left flank.
Given the importance of the match against Man City, it is likely that Klopp will opt for Matip alongside Van Dijk, considering Konate’s recent injury.
Overall, Liverpool fans can look forward to Konate’s return and hope for a successful outcome in the upcoming clash with their rivals.
