Jurgen Klopp’s Strategy Revealed: Szoboszlai and Salah Ready to Contribute against Sparta Prague
Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, has shed light on his plans for utilizing Dominik Szoboszlai and Mo Salah in the upcoming match against Sparta Prague. Despite Salah’s recent return from injury and having only trained once, he has been included in Liverpool’s travelling squad and could potentially play a role in the game.
In a press conference before kick-off, Klopp expressed his intentions, stating, “I would say [we can use] Dom a bit more than Mo. Not because of the injury they had but because Dom is longer in training and stuff like that. They are both not injured anymore, that is good. How good they are, we will find out.”
Interestingly, neither Szoboszlai nor Salah will be in the starting lineup for the match. Instead, both players will begin the game on the bench, ready to make an impact when called upon. Klopp has chosen the following starting XI for Liverpool: Kelleher; Gomez, Konate, Quansah, Robertson; Endo, Mac Allister, Elliott; Gakpo, Nunez, Diaz.
Speaking specifically about Salah during the press conference, Klopp expressed his delight at having the Egyptian forward back in the squad. “He’s with us, trained for two days so full of energy, we have to see,” Klopp said. “It’s so good that he’s back, really good for us. You can see on his face, he’s very happy. Very unlikely situation with being that long out, in for a moment at Brentford – played an incredible game there – and out again.”
However, Klopp emphasized the need for caution when it comes to Salah’s return. Liverpool is currently in a super intense period of the season, and it is crucial to manage their players’ fitness carefully. Klopp added, “We want to be careful, we have to be careful, but we’re in the middle of a super intense period of the season and we need everybody. Let’s see how long we can use him, that’s how it is with him and others as well. Just good news.”
Unfortunately, one player who will not be involved in the match against Sparta Prague is Jayden Danns. The 18-year-old has not trained or traveled with the squad due to a concussion he sustained in a previous match against Nottingham Forest.
As Liverpool prepares for a tough battle away from home, Klopp’s strategy of having Szoboszlai and Salah available off the bench showcases his tactical approach to ensure their gradual reintroduction into the team. With a strong starting lineup, Liverpool aims to secure a positive result against Sparta Prague and continue their successful run in the competition.
