Jurgen Klopp Reveals Hopeful Return Date for Thiago and Update on Stefan Bajcetic
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the hopeful return date of Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic following their respective injuries. Thiago, the veteran midfielder, underwent hip surgery in April while Bajcetic, the 19-year-old, has been sidelined with an adductor injury since March.
Klopp revealed that the medical staff are hoping Thiago will be back in the team from the start of the New Year. He also noted that there is still caution when it comes to Thiago’s fitness, and understandably so, with it considered a luxury now to have him available, not a given. His contract is due to expire at the end of the campaign, and it is unlikely he will be offered an extension.
When it comes to Bajcetic, Klopp acknowledged his potential and talent but noted that he is still growing and that they have to “put the brake on” for now. He added that they will have to wait until he is ready and then Liverpool FC will have a wonderful player to use.
Thiago’s Injury
Thiago has been out of action since April when he underwent hip surgery. It had been hoped that he would be able to take up a regular role in the side from the start of this season, but that has not been the case. Klopp explained that they cannot put any kind of pressure on Thiago’s recovery and that they expect him to be back probably start of the New Year.
Bajcetic’s Injury
Bajcetic made his comeback in September but suffered a setback which has seen Liverpool “put the brake on” his recovery. Klopp noted that they have to wait until Bajcetic is ready and then Liverpool FC will have a wonderful player to use. He added that there is absolutely no time that they can put on his recovery and they just have to wait.
Conclusion
Both Thiago and Bajcetic have spent the majority of the year on the treatment table following adductor and hip injuries respectively. Liverpool’s medical staff hope that Thiago will be back in the team from the start of the New Year while Bajcetic’s recovery is still ongoing and they have to wait until he is ready. Klopp acknowledged both players’ potential and talent and expressed his excitement for when they are both back in action.
