Jurgen Klopp admitted that “in an ideal world” Liverpool would complete their transfer business as soon as possible, but he acknowledged that it is “probably likely” that this will not happen. After Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Chelsea on Thursday, Liverpool know they will finish fifth in the Premier League and play in next season’s Europa League. The Reds have already identified Alexis Mac Allister as their priority target, with reports claiming that a five-year contract has been agreed in his native Argentina. However, Klopp was cautious in his pre-match press conference, noting that it is not always easy to secure the players they want. He stated that while it would be ideal to sign the new players immediately, he is prepared for it to take longer and that it would not be a “game-changer” for him. Klopp concluded by saying that even if the signings do not happen immediately, they still have plenty of time before the start of the new season.
