Klopp Open to Pairing Mac Allister and Endo in Midfield
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has expressed his openness to the idea of pairing Alexis Mac Allister and Wataru Endo in midfield. Endo, who has been serving as Mac Allister’s backup in the holding role this season, has shown his ability to play in a more advanced position. This has led to speculation that they could be paired together in future matches.
Klopp’s consideration of this midfield combination comes as he deals with the absences of Dominik Szoboszlai and Thiago. With injuries and international duties impacting the squad, Klopp is exploring different options to ensure the team’s success.
Speaking about Mac Allister and Endo’s compatibility, Klopp said, “We need them all, and of course Macca and Wataru can play together as well; they all can play together, it’s not a problem. We just have to make sure that we try to bring them together in the right moment, so let’s see.”
Before his international duty, Endo had been in impressive form for Liverpool. Filling in for an injured Mac Allister, he made eight successive starts and won over the fans with his performances. Klopp acknowledged Endo’s impact, stating, “Wataru was, before he left, really super influential. He gave us opportunities in a lot of moments to involve a lot of offensive players because his protection was just exceptional, the playing side of the game as well. He looks good since he’s back.”
The absence of Mac Allister had initially raised concerns for Liverpool, as he had become an unexpected key figure for the team. However, Klopp expressed his satisfaction with how the squad coped without him. “We came through that period without him pretty well, that was pretty impressive,” Klopp said.
As Liverpool prepares for upcoming matches, Klopp will have the option of pairing Mac Allister and Endo in midfield. Their compatibility and individual strengths could provide a solid foundation for the team. Klopp will carefully consider the right moment to bring them together on the pitch, ensuring their success in combination.
