Jurgen Klopp Confirms Trent Alexander-Arnold Will Be Involved Against Tottenham
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold should be involved in the team’s trip to Tottenham this weekend. However, Stefan Bajcetic has had a “little setback” and will not be available for selection.
Alexander-Arnold has been absent since the 3-0 win over Aston Villa on September 3, missing three games with a hamstring injury. But the right-back rejoined training on Monday and is expected to be in the squad for the game against Tottenham.
Speaking ahead of the journey to north London, Klopp gave an update on Alexander-Arnold’s fitness, saying: “Trent trained yesterday normal, will train today normal, so we have to make a decision. He will be in the squad. I’m not a doctor, but he looks like he can be in the squad tomorrow and play.”
Unfortunately, Liverpool will be without Bajcetic on Saturday evening, with the 18-year-old suffering a new calf injury which Klopp described as a “little setback.” The manager said: “Stefan had a little, little, little setback. The problem with Stefan, we have to be really careful.”
Thiago and Conor Bradley are also still out with injuries, leaving Liverpool with a depleted squad for their trip to Tottenham. However, with Alexander-Arnold set to return, the Reds will be hoping to get back to winning ways after their League Cup defeat to Leicester.
It remains to be seen whether Alexander-Arnold will start the game or be used as an impact substitute. Either way, his return will be a welcome boost for Liverpool as they look to get back on track in the Premier League.
