Klopp Confirms Injury Concerns for Nunez and Salah: Latest Updates
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that both Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah are facing injury concerns, which could impact their availability for the upcoming games. Klopp addressed the issue during the open section of his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Luton, but provided limited details.
While Klopp did not provide a direct update on Nunez or Salah, he did mention that certain players’ fitness was being assessed on a daily basis. However, he later spoke to journalists and expressed doubts about the forwards’ availability for the Luton game, as well as the Carabao Cup final.
Nunez’s issue revolves around muscle tightness, which forced him to be substituted at half-time during Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Brentford. On the other hand, Salah recently returned from a hamstring injury and is now experiencing fatigue after playing for over 45 minutes.
Klopp explained, “[Nunez] felt that in that game and there was nothing around. We go day by day. It is day by day as well with Mo. It’s a similar area (hamstring) where he feels [fatigue] a little bit. We have to see how it develops. It’s nothing crazy, but we have to see.”
While neither Nunez nor Salah have been ruled out of the clash with Luton yet, sources in Egypt have already claimed that Salah will miss the 7.30pm kickoff. Additionally, there are concerns about his availability for the Carabao Cup final.
In addition to Nunez and Salah’s concerns, there are other injury worries for Liverpool. Brazil manager Dorival Jr has suggested that goalkeeper Alisson will be absent until after the March international break. Furthermore, Dominik Szoboszlai is unlikely to return in time to face Chelsea at Wembley.
In terms of other injured players, Diogo Jota is dealing with a knee injury, Curtis Jones has an ankle issue, Trent Alexander-Arnold is recovering from a knee problem, Thiago is suffering from a hamstring injury, Joel Matip has an ACL injury, Stefan Bajcetic is experiencing growing pains, and Ben Doak has an MCL injury.
As Liverpool prepares for their upcoming matches, the status of Nunez and Salah remains uncertain. Klopp and the medical team will continue to assess their fitness on a daily basis. Fans will have to wait and see if these key players are able to recover in time to contribute to Liverpool’s campaign.
