Karim Benzema’s Future Determined: Chelsea and Arsenal Interest
Karim Benzema, the 36-year-old French forward, has been the subject of transfer rumors linking him to top clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, and Lyon. However, it seems that he will be staying with Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia at least until the end of the season. Despite only joining the Saudi Pro League last summer after leaving Real Madrid, Benzema is already looking for a move back to Europe.
On the pitch, Benzema has had a decent run, scoring 15 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions. However, he has been frustrating his employers and fans with his behavior off the field. During the mid-season break, he went on holiday without permission and returned late when the squad reconvened. This has not gone down well with the fans, who are not happy with his performances despite his goal return.
Despite the interest from big Premier League sides like Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as Manchester United, it seems that Benzema will not be leaving Al Ittihad during this transfer window. His former club Lyon was also reportedly interested in offering him a route back to a major European league, but any potential move will have to wait until after the January window closes.
Benzema himself has denied the rumors of wanting to leave Al Ittihad just six months into his three-year contract. In an interview with L’Equipe, he stated, “It’s completely false! The French media don’t know what to invent anymore. The bigger the better.”
While Benzema’s future remains uncertain, it is clear that he will be staying with Al Ittihad for now. Whether he will eventually make a return to Europe or continue his career in Saudi Arabia is yet to be seen. Fans will be eagerly watching to see how this situation unfolds.
