It is touch and go whether Liverpool will qualify for European competition next season, but Jurgen Klopp wants to ensure that the right lessons are learned regardless of the outcome. The Reds are currently in eighth place, nine points adrift of the top four, and Klopp has made it clear that a failure to qualify would be a “massive disappointment”. He is eager to see Liverpool act swiftly in the transfer market to ensure new signings are integrated as soon as possible, and has also planned a ‘one-stop tour’ to Singapore for a friendly tournament in pre-season. The manager wants to make sure that the team does not waste time in the period leading up to pre-season, and that they use it to take some useful things from this season rather than just telling themselves that it was the wrong way. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be preparing for a season with four different competitions, but we can only hope that it is the case.
