Jurgen Klopp Praises Liverpool After Conceding 20th Goal

Date:

Despite conceding the first goal of the game for the twentieth time this season, Liverpool’s reaction was hailed as the “best” of the campaign. Prior to their trip to West Ham, the Reds had only won three out of the previous nineteen matches in which they conceded first. However, Cody Gakpo and Joel Matip’s goals saw Liverpool make it four wins from twenty games when they conceded the opening goal. Jurgen Klopp commended his side for their performance, noting that their body language did not change despite going 1-0 down. He attributed their success to their improved defending, noting that they had a greater readiness to defend and were able to build confidence. This marked improvement for Liverpool, who had won three, drawn five and lost eleven in all competitions when conceding first prior to their trip to West Ham, was a welcome sight.
