    Passions are expected to run high on Merseyside for the Battle of Britain in what is the first competitive match to be played between both sides.

    However, there were some unsavoury scenes outside Liverpool’s home ground before the match with pictures emerging of murals of their manager, captain and star right-back being defaced.
