Reports suggest that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry could return to a club coaching role should Julian Nagelsmann get the PSG job. Nagelsmann was shockingly sacked by Bayern Munich back in March and is now in talks to become Paris Saint-Germain’s new manager with Cristophe Galtier set to be sacked. Galtier only joined the French giants last summer and despite winning Ligue 1, is likely to depart having failed to get the club any closer to winning the Champions League. Nagelsmann, who is 35-years-old and highly-rated, was heavily linked with the vacancies at Chelsea and Tottenham but a move to the Premier League has not materialised. The Blues have hired former Tottenham and PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino, while Spurs look set to appoint Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou.
Should the young German take over at the Parc des Princes, it has been reported by The Telegraph that he will look to add Henry to his coaching staff despite never having worked with the legendary forward before. It is Nagelsmann’s thinking that the presence of the France hero will help him adjust to Paris and appease players at the club, especially their talisman Kylian Mbappe. It is however unclear whether the former Arsenal and Barcelona player actually wants to return to the coaching world. Henry took in two spells as a part of Roberto Martinez’s coaching staff for the Belgium national team, helping the Red Devils to third-place at the 2018 World Cup but also overseeing poor, early exits from Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup. As a manager, the 45-year-old has underwhelmed to say the least, winning just 13 of his 49 games in charge of Monaco and Montreal Impact. In other news, PSG look to have beaten Chelsea to the signing of midfielder Manuel Ugarte and will pay Sporting Lisbon €60million (£51.7m) for the 22-year-old.
