Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid: Advanced Talks

Real Madrid are in advanced negotiations with Borussia Dortmund to sign England midfielder Jude Bellingham for a fee of over 100 million euros. The 19-year-old, who joined Dortmund from Birmingham City in July 2020, was one of England’s top performers at last year’s World Cup and is highly sought after by some of Europe’s top clubs. Real Madrid are confident that Bellingham desires to join them, however Manchester City are still in the running. Last month, Liverpool dropped out of the race to sign Bellingham due to the cost involved, with manager Jurgen Klopp comparing it to a “child wanting a Ferrari for Christmas”. Klopp had previously described Bellingham as “exceptional” after the World Cup. When Bellingham left Birmingham for Dortmund for £25m, becoming the most expensive 17-year-old in the history of football, the Championship side were mocked for retiring his shirt number despite him only playing one full season of professional football. However, Bellingham has since excelled at Dortmund and made history by becoming the club’s youngest captain aged 19. This season he has played 40 times for his club, scoring 11 goals and registering seven assists. Dortmund are understood to want 150 million euros for Bellingham, however Real Madrid are willing to pay around 100 million euros.
