Josko Gvardiol has dealt a blow to Chelsea, revealing he is happy to remain at RB Leipzig long-term.
The 20-year-old impressed for Croatia at the World Cup in Qatar, with his displays alerting several Premier League clubs.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with the centre-back in the past and were seemingly prepared to go back in for him in the summer.
That is despite Graham Potter’s side splashing £35million on Benoit Badiashile, who recently joined the club from Monaco.
Tottenham have also been linked with Gvardiol, along with Manchester City, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Leipzig’s director of sport Max Eberl has since revealed they will not entertain any offer from clubs.
“We are not interested in giving up Josko Gvardiol in the summer,” he said.
Gvardiol himself has now claimed he is prepared to stay in the Bundesliga, despite the reported interest in his services.
He said: “My plan is to stay here. I think everyone saw Max Eberl’s statement. That’s ok for me.”
It is bad news, however, for City, Chelsea and Tottenham with the defender revealing Liverpool is the club he would most like to play for.
“My dream club? That would definitely be Liverpool,” the 19-cap Croatia international said.
It remains to be seen whether Gvardiol will leave in the summer, but a move away should certainly not be ruled out in the future.
