Jordan Henderson Set to Join Saudi Arabian Side Al Ettifaq
Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has agreed to move to Saudi Arabian side Al Ettifaq, with the Reds now discussing a transfer fee for the 33-year-old. The Saudi Pro League club, managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, is offering the England star a deal thought to be worth an eye-watering £700,000-a-week.
Henderson has been at Liverpool since 2011 when he arrived from Sunderland and has gone on to make 492 appearances for the club. He has been an integral part of the team that has won the Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup in recent years.
The move to Al Ettifaq is seen as a major coup for the club, as Henderson is one of the most highly-rated players in world football. He is renowned for his leadership qualities, and his experience and ability will be invaluable to the team.
The transfer fee is yet to be agreed between the two clubs, but it is expected to be in the region of £20 million. This would make Henderson the most expensive player in the history of the Saudi Pro League.
Henderson’s move to Al Ettifaq could also pave the way for Liverpool to make a move for Roma midfielder Romeo Lavia. The Reds are reportedly interested in signing the Italian international, and if Henderson’s move goes through, they could make a bid for Lavia.
The move to Al Ettifaq is a major step forward for Henderson, who will be looking to continue his success in Saudi Arabia. He will be hoping to help the team challenge for major honours and prove himself as one of the best players in the league.
