Curtis Jones Requests His Own Chant from Liverpool Fans
Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has expressed his desire for his own chant from the Kop, despite not feeling left out by the popular song dedicated to teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold. Jones, a local-born player, has recently reached over 100 appearances for the club and has become a regular in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield since 2023.
Jones Wants Recognition from Liverpool Fans
Although Alexander-Arnold’s chant suggests he is the only Scouser in the team, Jones insists he doesn’t want to take away from his teammate’s song. In an episode of the We Are Liverpool podcast, Jones admitted that he would like a chant of his own but respects the recognition that Alexander-Arnold has earned.
“I’ve heard my name sung around. I’d like a song, I’m not gonna sit here and lie, yeah I’d like a song,” said Jones. “I’ve seen things about ‘The Scouser in our team’ and people saying ‘We need to change that song’. That’s been Trent’s song and I wouldn’t want that to change just because now I’m in the team and doing well. I even sing it to Trent as a joke! But yeah I’d like my own song, so I’ll see what they come up with!”
Recognition for Jones’ Contribution
With both Jones and Alexander-Arnold now representing their hometown in Liverpool’s first-team XI, it is only fitting that Jones receives more recognition from the fans. The 22-year-old midfielder has already achieved success with the club and hopes to win more trophies in the future.
Jones has heard attempts at honoring him away from Anfield, including a rendition of his name to the tune of ‘There she goes’ by The La’s. However, he is eager for a unique chant that represents his contribution to the team.
As Jones continues to establish himself as a key player for Liverpool, it is important for the fans to show their support and appreciation through a chant dedicated to him.
