Joe Rodon Aims for Germany Euros Despite Bruised Eye

Joe Rodon, the Leeds centre-back, is determined to participate in Wales’ Euro 2024 play-off bid despite sporting a black eye. The injury was sustained after a clash of heads with Junior Firpo during Sunday’s 2-0 win over Millwall. Despite his bruised eye, Rodon aims to deliver a knockout blow to his club teammate, Glen Kamara, during the upcoming match. The defender wasted no time in starting the mind games by giving Kamara the silent treatment after the game.

Rodon, who plays alongside Wales teammates Ethan Ampadu, Connor Roberts, and Dan James at Leeds United, revealed that there has been some banter between him and Kamara due to their shared club affiliation. He also mentioned that Leeds boss Daniel Farke has been supporting Kamara, but Rodon hopes that Wales will have the bragging rights when they return to the club.

Having already played in Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup, Rodon is in the form of his life and aims to help Wales qualify for the Germany finals this summer. A victory over Finland would set up a final against either Poland or Estonia in Cardiff next Tuesday. Wales manager Robert Page believes that Rodon has become a true defender after experiencing physicality on the field.

Despite his injury, Rodon remains optimistic and is focused on healing quickly before the match. He has had a few injuries this season but is determined to continue doing what he loves. Wales, without star players Gareth Bale and Joe Allen, who retired from football, face difficulties in transitioning as a team. However, Rodon emphasizes the impact that Bale and Allen have had on Welsh football and acknowledges their absence.

Rodon played alongside Bale for both club and country and jokes that he is relieved not to be bullied by him anymore. The defender acknowledges Bale’s presence and influence, stating that he will be watching the game and that he misses him a lot.

In conclusion, Joe Rodon’s determination to participate in Wales’ Euro 2024 play-off bid despite his bruised eye showcases his dedication to the team. With his mind games against teammate Glen Kamara and his desire to qualify for the Germany finals, Rodon’s commitment and passion for football are evident. Despite the absence of key players like Gareth Bale and Joe Allen, Rodon and his fellow teammates are ready to face the challenges ahead and continue Wales’ football legacy.
