Joao Felix, the former Chelsea star who joined Barcelona on loan from Atletico Madrid, has recently signed a new contract with the club. This move has resulted in a significant increase in his salary, with reports suggesting that his earnings have risen by 900 per cent.

Initially, Felix agreed to a salary of just £344,440 per year due to Barcelona’s financial struggles. However, the player was willing to accept the wage cut in order to secure the deal. Describing his move to the Nou Camp as a “dream,” Felix’s commitment has now been rewarded with a more lucrative contract.

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, revealed that they have multiplied the remuneration agreed between Felix and Barcelona by 10 for Fair Play purposes. This means that the Portuguese forward could potentially earn up to £3,444,400 per year or £66,000 per week.

Financial Struggles and Future Plans

Barcelona has been facing financial difficulties and has had to sell off assets and future TV rights income to address their reported £1 billion debt. Despite these challenges, the club has managed to find the funds to offer Felix a salary that better reflects his value.

In addition to Felix, Barcelona is also interested in signing Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood, who is currently on loan at Girona. The Spanish champions are reportedly prepared to offer £40 million for the one-time England international.

Greenwood’s Potential Move and Contract Talks

Barcelona has already informed Greenwood that he can inherit the famous No. 10 jersey previously worn by Lionel Messi. Manchester United officials are expected to hold talks regarding Greenwood’s future, as his contract is set to expire in 18 months.

With these developments, it is clear that Barcelona is actively working to strengthen their squad and overcome their financial challenges. The signings of Joao Felix and the potential acquisition of Mason Greenwood demonstrate the club’s determination to compete at the highest level.
