Jesse Lingard Offered to Portland Timbers in MLS Transfer Move
Jesse Lingard, the former Manchester United player, is reportedly being offered to Major League Soccer (MLS) side Portland Timbers as he seeks to revive his career. Lingard, who left Old Trafford in 2022 after his contract expired, had a disappointing season with Nottingham Forest last year and was released again in the summer. The 31-year-old has been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia, as well as interest from Everton and Barcelona. However, it is now reported that Lingard has been offered to MLS club Portland Timbers by his new agents.
Lingard recently parted ways with his previous representatives due to their failure to secure him a new club. During his time at Manchester United, Lingard made 232 appearances, scoring 35 goals and providing 21 assists. Despite training with West Ham and Al-Ettifaq after leaving Forest, Lingard was unable to agree on a contract with either team. Last season, he only managed two goals and two assists for Forest under Steve Cooper, with none of those contributions coming in the Premier League where he started just 12 games.
In a recent gym workout post on social media, Lingard caught the attention of United legend Paul Scholes, who sarcastically commented on his dedication to football. Lingard’s future remains uncertain, but a move to MLS could provide him with a fresh start and an opportunity to reignite his career.
