Jamie Carragher on Liverpool, Arsenal’s PL Title Chances

Jamie Carragher Fears Man City Could Win Premier League Title by 10 Points This Season

Jamie Carragher has shared his views on Liverpool and Arsenal’s Premier League title chances and if either side can stop Manchester City this term. Pep Guardiola’s side have been utterly dominant in recent years, lifting five of the last six top-flight trophies. City won the treble last season with glory in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup and they are now looking to land the top-flight title for the fourth campaign in a row.

Arsenal and Liverpool are seen by many as the closest two challengers with the Gunners having topped the table for 248 days last term – the most for a team who failed to win the title in English top-flight history – before they finished second. Liverpool, meanwhile, are the only side to have denied City in recent years, beating Guardiola’s side to the 2019-20 Premier League title.

Arsenal and Liverpool’s Unbeaten Starts

Arsenal and Liverpool have both enjoyed strong starts this season and are unbeaten from their opening six fixtures, but both clubs trail City who have a perfect record and have won all of their Premier League games thus far.

Quizzed about Liverpool and Arsenal’s chances of stopping City this term, Carragher told Sky Sports: ‘There’s just so many goals in the [Liverpool] team. In terms of Liverpool challenging this season, I think they have started the season [well] and Jurgen Klopp is calling it Liverpool 2.0. This is the start again, after they fell off a cliff last season. I don’t think Liverpool are in a position right now to challenge Manchester City and win a title. That may come in a couple years because Liverpool are rebuilding again. I do fear about the Premier League, I could see Man City winning it by 10 points.’

Liverpool and Arsenal Still Short in Areas Compared to Man City

‘It’s a real worry because they have started so well and they usually don’t. On the back of winning the Champions League, we are watching one of the best teams we have ever seen. Kevin De Bruyne is out and they’ve won every game, they’ve not missed him at all. Liverpool and Arsenal are still short in a couple of areas compared to Man City.’

Conclusion

It’s clear that Manchester City are looking like the clear favorites to win the Premier League title this season, with Jamie Carragher even suggesting that they could win it by 10 points. While Arsenal and Liverpool have both made strong starts to the season, it looks like they will be unable to challenge City due to their lack of depth in certain areas. It remains to be seen if either side can prove Carragher wrong and mount a serious challenge for the title this season.
