Tottenham Star James Maddison Responds to Rival Fans at World Darts Championship
James Maddison, the talented midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur, had a clever response when targeted by rival Premier League fans at the World Darts Championship held at Alexandra Palace. However, it seems that the security staff at the venue did not see it in the same light.
Maddison attended the championship to watch Luke Humphries defeat 16-year-old Luke Littler in the final. As a Tottenham player, Maddison is no stranger to receiving criticism from rival fans, especially at Alexandra Palace, which is located in north London and often frequented by Arsenal supporters.
During the event, the crowd joined together in a chant of ‘Tottenham get battered, everywhere they go’, directed at Maddison. Despite this, the 27-year-old midfielder responded with a smile and even held up a sign that read ‘North London is white! COYS [come on you Spurs]’.
Unfortunately, according to the Daily Star, security staff confiscated Maddison’s sign. The security team at the World Darts Championship has a strict policy against offensive messages or anything that could incite unrest.
Despite this incident, there were no further reports of any issues arising. In an interview before Humphries’ victory over Littler, Maddison expressed his support for the young superstar and revealed that he had invited Littler to watch a Tottenham game against Bournemouth.
Maddison’s presence at the World Darts Championship and his interaction with rival fans only added to the excitement of the event. It showcased his good-natured response and his support for young talent like Littler.
