Sullivan, who was named the Indiana Football Coaches Association’s top junior quarterback for Class 6A, stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs 180 pounds. In the previous season, he played in nine games, leading his team to a 6-4 record. Sullivan showcased his skills by completing 115 of 213 passes for 1,508 yards, with 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Additionally, he ran for 406 yards and five touchdowns.
Notably, Sullivan received offers from other Big Ten schools such as Michigan State, Minnesota, and Illinois. While he is currently ranked as the No. 53 quarterback in the 2025 class by 247Sports, his potential and abilities make him an exciting addition to the Hawkeyes’ roster.
Sullivan joins lineman Joey VanWetzinga from Pleasant Valley (Iowa) High School and linebacker Burke Gautcher from High Sycamore (Ill.) High School as Iowa’s third commit for the 2025 class. The team had previously lost offensive line commit Nick Brooks from Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Kennedy.
Impact on Iowa’s Recruiting Strategy
The Hawkeyes typically only accept one quarterback commit per class, making Sullivan their top choice for 2025. While they also pursued Alex Manske from Algona, Iowa, who seemed inclined towards Nebraska, Iowa has a history of recruiting quarterbacks from across the country. Recent additions include Marco Lainez III from The Hun School (Princeton, N.J.) and James Resar from Bishop Kenny (Jacksonville, Fla.).
Strengths of Jimmy Sullivan
Sullivan possesses a strong arm and demonstrates good mobility within the pocket. His preference for deeper routes contributes to a slightly lower completion percentage. Although not primarily known as a running quarterback, Sullivan exhibits impressive speed and pocket awareness. Overall, he appears to be an excellent fit for the Hawkeyes’ playing style.
