INTER MIAMI manager Gerardo Martino has confirmed that he is keen on signing former Barcelona and Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez. Should Martino be successful in signing the Uruguayan, fans could be treated to the prospect of the forward once again linking up with Lionel Messi.
Messi, Suarez, and Neymar formed the potent ‘MSN’ strikeforce which won the continental treble in the 2014-15 season consisting of LaLiga, The Champions League, and the Copa Del Rey. In total, the trio played 113 matches together, scoring 253 goals.
Suarez was linked with a move to Miami over the summer but ultimately remained with Brazilian side Gremio. Suarez joined Gremio in December 2022 partly due to its close proximity to his homeland of Uruguay. But the move to Inter Miami appears to be back on the cards after the forward announced he would leave the Brazilian club at the end of the Brazilian season in December.
From that point, Suarez would be a free agent and Martino confirmed he has Suarez in his plans for the 2024 MLS season. Martino said he has conducted plans for next season which includes Suarez as a member of the squad. Speaking ahead of Miami’s game against Charlotte tomorrow, Goal reports that Martino said: “Within our analysis of the upcoming season, and the needs we may have, we have an analysis with Luis and an analysis without Luis.”
Should Suarez join the MLS side, he would find himself reunited with three ex-Barcelona teammates in the form of Messi, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets. Martino also previously managed Barcelona for the 2013-14 season, the year before Suarez arrived at the club. He resigned following a disappointing campaign after the star-studded team failed to win a trophy.
The potential reunion of Suarez and Messi has excited fans around the world. The duo had a remarkable partnership during their time at Barcelona, with their understanding and chemistry on the field leading to numerous goals and titles. Suarez’s arrival at Inter Miami would undoubtedly strengthen the team’s attacking prowess and provide a boost to their ambitions in the MLS.
Suarez’s experience and goal-scoring ability would be invaluable to Inter Miami. His presence in the squad would not only benefit the team on the pitch but also attract attention and support from fans. The Uruguayan striker has a proven track record of success at the highest level, and his addition to the team would elevate Inter Miami’s status in the league.
The potential partnership between Suarez and Messi is a dream come true for football fans. The two players have a deep understanding of each other’s game and have shown time and again that they can create magic on the field. Their combination of skill, vision, and goal-scoring ability is unmatched, and it would be a treat for fans to witness them playing together once again.
The reunion of Suarez and Messi would also have commercial implications for Inter Miami. The duo’s popularity and global appeal would attract sponsors and increase the team’s marketability. The presence of two footballing superstars in the same team would generate significant media attention and put Inter Miami in the spotlight.
