Zlatan Ibrahimovic Returns to AC Milan as Senior Adviser
Former AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has made a comeback to the club, this time as a senior adviser to the ownership and management.
A Glittering Career
Ibrahimovic enjoyed a remarkable 24-year career, playing for top clubs such as Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Paris St-Germain, and Manchester United. He achieved success across four different countries and holds the record for being Sweden’s all-time leading goalscorer.
RedBird Appoints Ibrahimovic
AC Milan’s owners, American investment firm RedBird, who acquired the Serie A club for £1bn in August 2022, have appointed Ibrahimovic as an operating partner. In this role, he will oversee RedBird’s sports, media, and entertainment investment portfolio, which includes AC Milan.
A Dream Come True
Expressing his excitement, Ibrahimovic said, “My love for the Rossoneri will never fade, and the opportunity to contribute to its future in a significant way is something I could only have imagined. This decision holds great personal importance to me and my family. After careful consideration, I am thrilled to embark on this new chapter as a member of RedBird and AC Milan.”
Ibrahimovic’s association with AC Milan dates back to 2010 when he first joined the club on loan. He added, “This is truly a homecoming for me and my family, returning to the club where I concluded my playing career and now beginning my next journey.”
Having rejoined AC Milan in early 2020, Ibrahimovic played a pivotal role in their Scudetto victory in 2011 and helped them secure the title once again in the 2021-22 season.
