Ian Wright and Alan Shearer have both expressed their surprise that more teams do not target Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea. De Gea made a costly blunder in United’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham on Sunday, with Erik ten Hag’s side suffering a second 1-0 defeat in the space of four days. Wright believes teams should take advantage of De Gea’s shaky concentration when there are bodies around him, while Shearer believes United’s management will be growing ‘concerned’ at the frequency of his mistakes. Ten Hag has confirmed he wants De Gea to sign a new contract, but with the Spaniard’s current deal set to expire this summer, United may have to look at the position as a priority. United are currently fourth in the Premier League with four games remaining, one point above fifth-placed Liverpool. They return to action next Saturday against Wolves, who have won three of their last five games to climb away from the relegation zone.
